Stocks End Flat As Investors Digest Economic Data

The Dow Jones Industrial Average trimmed 17.11 points to finish at 12,101.46 Monday while the Nasdaq and S&P 500 inched up 12.53 points and 0.14 points, respectively.

In economic news, the Commerce Department said factory orders fell for the third time in the past four months in April, dipping 0.6% -- much worse than the consensus estimate predicting a 0.2 increase.

Meanwhile, last week’s unemployment report showed the U.S. added only 69,000 new jobs in May as unemployment increased to 8.2 percent.
