The Dow Jones Industrial Average moved up 93.24 points to close at 12,554.20 Friday while the Nasdaq and S&P 500 gained 27.40 points and 10.67 points, respectively.
In economic news, the Commerce Department reported that the U.S. trade deficit narrowed a bit in April to $50.1 billion but still checked in a tad higher than the $49.5 billion gap most analysts had predicted.
Meanwhile, U.S. wholesale inventories edged up 0.6% in April following an unrevised 0.3% jump in March. Most economists were looking for a 0.4% increase, according to a Reuters survey.
