Swanson to Head Pru's Retirement Services Sales

Prudential Financial has named Paul Swanson senior VP and national sales manager of Prudential Retirement Services. He will report to Paul Chong, Prudential's executive VP of business development.

Swanson will be responsible for managing the Retirement Services unit's multiple distribution channels. Those include third-party brokers, national consulting firms and Prudential-affiliated personnel, such as financial advisors at Prudential Securities and agents of the firm's U.S. Consumer Group. Swanson will initially seek to hire defined contribution specialists for various regional openings across the country as well, Prudential said.

Swanson joins Prudential from CitiStreet, where he served as senior VP and national sales director. There, he managed 401(k) product distribution within Smith Barney's branch system.

"Paul has a proven track record of managing a variety of sales channels at once - while developing and implementing strategic initiatives related to the distribution of retirement products," Prudential Retirement Services President Scott Sleyster said in a statement.

Prudential currently administers approximately $25 billion in assets within retirement plans for more than one million participants, according to the firm.
