TD Wealth hires head of national sales

TD Bank has snagged a former wealth executive from Provident Bank to grow the wealth business in the U.S.

As head of national sales, James Nesci will oversee the development and strategy of the adviser program and work closely with marketing and product teams to promote the firm's advice offerings, TD Bank said.

TD Bank's new head of national sales was tasked with growing the U.S. wealth business and overseeing the development of the adviser program.

Nesci succeeds John Leto, who left TD Bank in July 2016 to join The Bancorp, a provider of private label banking services to non-bank companies, as chief administrative officer.

Since Leto's departure, the role of head of national sales has evolved to align with the bank's wealth business, a TD spokeswoman said.

At Provident Bank, Nesci served as executive vice president and chief wealth management officer as well as president of the bank's wholly owned subsidiary, Beacon Trust. He joined Provident Bank in March 2009, after having worked nearly four years at Wilmington Trust as chief operating officer.

TD Bank praised Nesci's success in leading and building the wealth management and private banking functions available at Beacon Trust.

"Jim has a long track record of success across the banking industry and understands how to build and develop winning strategies and teams," Peter Mottek, head of U.S. Wealth, said in a statement.

Nesci will be based in New York and Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

"The expansion of wealth management capabilities across TD Bank provides a tremendous opportunity for us to deliver personalized, tailored advice to individuals and businesses at every stage in their wealth journey," Nesci said in a statement.
