Legg Mason has elected former Swedish Prime Minister Hon. Carl Bildt and former Financial Accounting Standards Board Chairman Dennis R. Beresford to its board of directors.
Bildt currently serves as the first non-U.S. member of the board of trustees of RAND, the nonprofit institution that helps improve policy on behalf of the U.S. government and other organizations. He is also a member of the Council of the International Institute of Strategic Studies in London. Prior to Legg Mason, Bildt served as leader of the Moderate Party of Sweden and was a member of Parliament. He also served as the U.N. Secretary General's special envoy for the Balkans.
Beresford was previously national director of accounting standards for Ernst & Young. He is currently the Ernst & Young executive professor of accounting at the University of Georgia and is also a member of the board of directors of the Institute of Management Accountants.
