UHY Advisors Moves Into Estate Planning

UHY Advisors, known as a tax and business consulting firm, is branching out into new territory with the hire of two estate planning specialists.

Joseph Falanga, CPA, and Sharon Goodman, JD, have joined UHY’s team in New York City. Falanga and Goodman will expand UHY Advisors’ service to include estate planning for high-net-worth individuals, families and foundations.

“The value [Falanga and Goodman] bring to our clients is exceptional,” says Michael Mahoney, managing director for UHY Advisors in both New York City and Rye Brook, NY.

Falanga and Goodman have been a team for nearly two decades, most recently at Schonbraun McCann Group, which was acquired by FTI Consulting.

"My career path has been grounded in the high-net-worth area for over 25 years," says Falanga, now managing director at UHY Advisors. Falanga will also be representing UHY on the lecture circuit, including an appearance before the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council on March 15. In addition to being a certified public accountant, Falanga is an accredited estate planner and has an MBA from Fordham University.

"Estate planning is complicated and deserves a heightened level of specialty," says Goodman, now managing director at UHY Advisors. Goodman, who earned her law degree from SUNY Buffalo, has been practicing law for more than 25 years and is a member of the New York Tax Study Group and sits on the board of directors of the New York City Estate Planning Council.
