U.S. Bancorp Names Manzoni General Counsel

U.S. Bancorp Asset Management has appointed Charles Manzoni as its new general counsel. In his new role Manzoni is responsible for oversight of U.S. Bancorp’s Asset Management and First American investment products.

Manzoni was a member of Chicago-based law firm Gardner, Carton & Douglas, which until recently was the independent counsel for the mutual funds advised by U.S. Bancorp. The firm has also named Doug Paul, formerly a partner at the law firm Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, as its new chief counsel.

"Both Charlie and Doug are eminently qualified to head our legal and compliance departments," said Tom Schreier, chief executive officer of U.S. Bancorp Asset Management. "Their expertise and capability uniquely position them to lead and enhance these strategically important functions."

Manzoni’s 30-year professional track record of securities law experience includes a 20-year stint at Gardner, Carton & Douglas and a term as executive v.p. and general counsel at Zurich Kemper Investments. He began his legal career at the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C and serves as an adjunct professor in the Financial Services Law Program sponsored by ITT Chicago-Kent College of Law.
