Vanguard Extends Low-Cost Shares to Emerging Markets Fund

Vanguard has extended its Admiral share class to its Emerging Markets Stock Index Fund.

The Admiral shares, which, on this fund, charge only 30 basis points, are available to investors who have had an account with Vanguard for the past 10 years and maintain a balance of $50,000 or more, or for those who currently have a balance of $100,000 or more.

The fund, introduced in 1994, tracks the Select Emerging Markets Index, which Morgan Stanley Country Indexes maintains exclusively for Vanguard, by investing in 18 emerging-market countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Vanguard now offers Admiral shares on 65 of its funds, some of them charging as little as nine basis points in this share class.
