Vanguard Makes Grand Hiring Move in the Desert

Vanguard Group may already be the largest mutual fund provider in the nation, but that doesn't mean it plans to stop growing.

The top dog in the mutual fund industry has just announced it's looking to hire 150 employees in its Scottsdale, Ariz., office, with plans to hire an additional 150 over the next year.

Spokesman Joshua Grandy for Vanguard said Arizona is a "big market" for the company. The firm is particularly interested in attracting individual investors, he said.

"What's fueling this growth and this need for talent is particularly the large position that we're having in the market. The Arizona office is a big opportunity for us to grow," he said.

The 150 new hires will cover a wide range of professional entry-level to management positions in client relationships, processing, participant services and sales.

For the entry-level positions, Grandy highlighted the presence of several universities in the area, citing Arizona State University as one of the schools it is targeting.

The Scottsdale office currently employs 2,121 employees.
