Wachovia Corp. has named Georgette Dixon director of the firm's newly created emerging markets department within Wachovia's corporate marketing division, the firm announced last week.

Under Dixon's leadership, the emerging markets team will be responsible for working with all of Wachovia's business lines to create and implement specialized programs with respect to emerging markets.

"Customers want to do business with people who understand their unique needs and can build commitment and trust through the customer experience," said Dixon. "The role of emerging markets is to ensure our company is in touch with the needs of our diverse markets."

Dixon, who was promoted from within Wachovia's corporate marketing division, previously held various marketing positions at Procter & Gamble and Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp.
