Wedding Registry Website Allows Couples to Sign up for Mutual Funds, Stocks

A groom who works in the financial services industry has launched a wedding registry website, weddingfutures.com, where couples can sign up to receive gifts of mutual funds and stocks through their bank or brokerage firm. The website charges 5% for every purchase.

At registration, couples select from one of five types of portfolio profiles: conservative, moderate, aggressive, green or socially responsible. “Our pre-created portfolio registries align with the couple’s risk tolerance, so even investment neophytes’ gifts align with the couple’s ‘financial décor,’” said Keaton Nguyen, founder of the website.

“Gift givers can be confident that their WeddingFutures.com gift, unlike a pricey coffee-maker, which will eventually break or become obsolete, will always be needed, wanted and put to good use by the happy couple, because it will appreciate in value," he added.
