FPA Honors Industry Leaders
One advocated for a strong code of ethics among planners. One conducted ground-breaking research into basic assumptions behind common retirement planning practices. And ten have given extraordinary amounts of time to teach financial planning and to provide it for people who might not otherwise get it.

The FPA will honor these 12 individuals at its annual conference this weekend and next week in San Antonio, Texas. One of the honorees, economist Wade Pfau, is also the recipient of Financial Planning's 2012 Influencer Award for Portfolio Management, in the October issue. Jon Beyrer is a 2012 recipient of FP's annual Pro Bono Awards for his work on a team of planners with families of critically ill children. Another, Anja Luesink won one of FP's 2011 Influencer Awards for her work with a team of planners who have helped 911 victims.

"It's a testament to the passion of the financial planning community that we have one of our largest groups of honorees this year," says the FPA's incoming executive director Lauran Schadle. "These are often unsung individuals who unselfishly commit countless hours for the betterment of financial planning and the public at large."
