Retirement benefits like 401(k) plans are crucial for helping workers to save for their futures. These offerings can improve financial wellness all while helping to retain workers long term. But some jobs offer better retirement benefits than others.

So which industries top the list? Bureau of Labor Statistics data analyzed by GOBankingRates.com finds that these industries provide some of the best retirement benefits for employees, determined by the jobs that had the highest employer contribution rate per hour.

10. Credit intermediation workers

Employer contribution per hour: $1.72 per hour

A full 91% of these companies offer a defined contribution plan and 95% offer healthcare benefits, GoBankingRates.com finds.

9. Manufacturing workers

Employer contribution per hour: $1.76

About 51% of these companies offer a defined contribution plan and 7% percent offer a defined benefit plan.

8. Construction workers

Employer contribution per hour: $2.16

A full 10% of construction companies offer a defined benefit plan and 30% offer a defined contribution plan.

7. Educational services workers

Employer contribution per hour: $2.19

About 53% of these employees have a defined contribution plan, and 58% of them have healthcare benefits.

6. Financial services workers

Employer contribution per hour: $2.25

A total of 32% of companies in this industry offer a defined benefit plan, 81% offer a defined contribution plan.

5. Insurance carriers

Employer contribution per hour: $2.47

Just 14% of companies offer a defined benefit plan and 66% have a defined contribution plan.

4. Transportation and warehouse workers

Employer contribution per hour: $2.65

In total, 42% of companies offer a defined contribution retirement plan, and just over half provide healthcare benefits.

3. College and university workers

Employer contribution per hour: $3.18

Nearly all (96%) of these organizations offer a defined contribution plan and healthcare benefits.

2. Aircraft manufacturing workers

Employer contribution per hour: $5.13

The contribution represents 7.3% of the employee’s total compensation.

Employer contribution per hour: $6.52

In total, 94% of utility companies offer a defined contribution benefit plan to their workers and 98% offer healthcare benefits.
