Season's greetings: Holiday cards from advisors

There's something special about receiving a holiday card. Many advisors take advantage of the opportunity of the season to send them to their clients, colleagues and peers.

From Thanksgiving greetings to best wishes for the New Year, we've compiled several planners' holiday cards here for your enjoyment and perusal — and to offer ideas for what your practice may send next year! --Editorial Staff

Helping dreams take flight

Kay Kramer
Financial Planner & Partner

"For our 2016 card, we were inspired by a flight attendant’s greeting: 'Relax and enjoy your flight.' We ended up going with the flying theme, settling on 'helping your dreams take flight!' We contacted Wings of the North, a non-profit museum that operates restorations and preserves aviation history. Birchwood staff spent an afternoon learning about the AT-6 Texan aircraft we are pictured with. This aircraft would have been the last trainer aircraft that a 1940s era pilot would fly before graduating to a fighter aircraft or being sent to multi-engine school to learn how to fly bombers and transports."

Holiday elegance

"We worked with an owner of a boutique paper business named Tanea Smith. We met with her in person to discuss our firm and the type of clients that we work with. She saw us as an elegant firm that provides an empowering service to woman and couples going through transition. She sent us three different designs and we landed on the simple calculator and wreath above the table. The table is teal and purple which are two of our firm colors and we chose the wording to fit the theme of the calculator. As a team, we were able to put together a holiday card that we are proud to send our clients and referral partners."

A serene winter scene

Liz Miller
Summit Place Financial Advisors
Summit, New Jersey

"We often choose a geometric or snowflake-like design, but this year we were drawn to a serene winter scene. So many clients are a little uncomfortable right now with where the country may be going, or just the uncertainty of an unexpected president-elect. This card made us feel like we were sending warm, calming feelings."

"We wanted a shot reflecting the more relaxed and cheerful mood of the holidays. The old brick wall in the background is symbolic of the strength and dependability that a client counts on from their advisor."

A family affair

Sara Botkin
President & Financial Advisor
Botkin Family Wealth Management
McMurray, Pennsylvania

"Until a few years ago, we used to send out fancy engraved cards with our firm name on them. Once the grandkids began coming along, we started sending a family photo card as we are a family-owned firm. The response was wonderful! Clients ask all year long about the kids and mention how they love seeing them grow — and multiply in number — each year. Sometimes I even see our card hanging on their fridge when I visit them at their home! We plan to keep up the photo card tradition as I feel it strengthens our personal connection with clients."
