$238M Morgan Stanley team joins RBC

An adviser team with about $238 million assets under management left Morgan Stanley to join RBC Wealth Management, according to the firm.

The Gryphon Group, headed by Jim Murray and Ryan Griego, generated $1.3 million in annual revenue, says RBC. They will be joining RBC’s Pueblo, Colorado branch. Murray has 35 years’ experience in securities, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records, while Griego has nearly 12 years’ experience.

Murray’s career with Morgan Stanley began when he joined E. F. Hutton in 1981, according to FINRA BrokerCheck. He stayed with the firm through various mergers and acquisitions that led to its sale to the wirehouse in 2009, BrokerCheck records show.

Griego began his career in 2004 with Piper Jaffray and stayed with the brokerage when it was acquired by UBS in 2006, according to BrokerCheck records. He joined Citigroup two years later.

The team also includes Desiree Jara and Kimberly Ritchie, both senior registered client associates. “We are thrilled to welcome a team of the Gryphon Group’s caliber to our Pueblo office,” said Jeri Larrinaga, director of the firm’s Pueblo branch. “Their knowledge and experience, as well as their focus on providing superior client service, make them great additions to our firm.”

A Morgan Stanley spokeswoman declined to comment on the move.
