FocusShares Severs Ties With Flack

FocusShares, a unit of online discount trading firm Scottrade, has severed ties with its PR firm, MWW Group.

A spokesperson for MWW Group confirmed that it is no longer working with FocusShares but declined to comment further on the breakup.

Jack Naudi, FocusShares’ communications analyst, told Money Management Executive that: “We began working with MWW on a project basis [in 2010] and always intended to bring our PR efforts in-house, and that’s what we’ve done now.”

The Montvale, N.J.-based exchange-traded fund firm in March launched a marketing campaign to promote its 15 low-cost Focus Morningstar exchange-traded funds, which launched in March 2011. The campaign will include new print and online advertising and national cable television sponsorships targeted at investment advisors, emphasizing the low costs of the funds, the use of Morningstar Indexes as benchmarks, and Scottrade’s commitment to FocusShares and its products.
