Merrill Lynch recruited a wealth strategist from Goldman Sachs, the firm said.
Michael Duffy joined the wirehouse's Strategic Wealth Advisory Group in Atlanta. The group is part of Merrill Lynch's Private Banking & Investment Group, which serves high-net-worth and ultrahigh-net-worth clients.

In his new position, Duffy will advise the firm's clients in the Southeast with regard to estate and other wealth planning services, the firm said.
Duffy reports to Stacy Allred, head of the Strategic Wealth Advisory Group, and Michael Nies, Southeast Region Director of the Private Banking & Investment Group.
In a statement Allred said that the firm's clients "will benefit from [Duffy's] extensive knowledge of law and wealth planning."

Duffy has more than two decades of industry experience serving the ultrawealthy client segment, according to Merrill. While at Goldman Sachs, Duffy was a member of the bank's Strategic Wealth Advisory Team, according to Merrill.
Duffy has previous work experience at BNY Mellon and JPMorgan Private Bank.
