Cetera Advisor Networks, formerly known as Financial Network Investment Corporation, on Tuesday announced the addition of the four-person Advisors Financial team led by Joseph Van Name.

Advisors Financial is a Falls Church, Virg.-based registered investment advisor with $130 million in total client assets. The holistic financial planning practice focuses primarily on individuals with $500 million to $8 million in assets.

Van Name, president of Advisors Financial, said his firm knew of Financial Network for years, but since becoming Cetera, it has become even more prominent in the independent broker-dealer channel. “Now as Cetera Advisor Networks, it’s a growing firm – large, but not too large – with a good wealth management platform, an ongoing investment in technology, really nice people, and direct contact with the firm’s management,” Van Name said in a statement.

Advisors Financial joins Cetera from the smaller independent broker-dealer, Cadaret Grant. Van Name said in a phone interview that it was merely a matter of outgrowing the previous broker-dealer that prompted the change. “We chose Cetera because we wanted a firm that is investing in technology and has a robust platform to fit our needs," Van Name said.

Under Cetera’s regional director model, Advisors Financial has joined the Virginia-based region led by Bruce Vaughn, who said Van Name’s firm is a good fit for their region. “Like us, Advisors Financial operates as a team providing fee-based services to clients,” Vaughn said in a statement.

Advisors Financial has begun to shift from commission based to a fee based business model and Van Name expects this to accelerate with access to new resources through Cetera.

Vaughn said he is looking forward to a great relationship with Advisors Financial. “With each member of Joe’s practice being a CFP, they bring a comprehensive, holistic wealth management approach to their clients,” Vaughn said in a statement.
