Consultancy Christens Self As New Breed' Info Tech

A "new breed" of information technology (IT) consultancy focusing on banking, insurance and financial services was launched last week by Select Inc., a 15-year-old IT solutions provider in Westwood, Mass., whose clients include John Hancock, State Street and the Boston Stock Exchange.

The founders of the parent company, Dana Zahka and Robert C. Norton, will direct and manage the new firm, called StrategIT, which will be a vendor-independent consultancy focusing on corporate IT infrastructures.

According to Select, although the new firm will be vendor independent, it will be staffed with professionals who have equal experience with consulting and installations involving major infrastructure manufacturers.

In addition, the new firm will tie employee compensation to client satisfaction on every engagement. StrategIT's services will be divided into three practices: strategic IT planning, enterprise networking services, and enterprise storage and systems networking.

Strategic said that the talent assigned to its new think-shop have experience with thousands of enterprise infrastructure engagements, including one helping a mutual fund company speed the addition of customers from months to hours by using secure virtual private networks, rather than private lines, to connect with intermediaries.

"StrategIT is poised to meet pent-up demand for end-to-end infrastructure services," Zahka asserted. "As IT executives continue to do more with less, they have a palpable need for consultants who can tie business with technology goals. We are determined to be their first-choice strategic IT partner."
