Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management Names Head of Research

Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management has lured a senior executive away from HSBC to lead research activity across its investment platform globally. Philip Poole will be responsible for macro and micro research and will play a prominent role in presenting the firm’s investment views to clients and the media, the firm announced on Wednesday.

In this newly created role as head of Research, Poole will contribute to the “house view” generated by the firm’s Chief Investment Office. He will also provide portfolio managers with investable ideas across all asset classes.
Prior to joining Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management, Poole was with HSBC Global Asset Management, where he was Global Head of Macro & Investment Strategy. From 2004 to 2010, he served as Global Head of Research and Chief Economist for Emerging Markets for the HSBC Group across asset classes.

Poole is based in London and reports to Co-Chief Operating Officers Randy Brown and Asoka Wohrmann.

“Having a powerful global research function gives our investment teams a crucial edge as they strive to deliver superior performance to our clients. Philip will help us make optimal use of our global research resources as well as the best external research,” Brown said in a statement.
