ETFdb Launches Free Mutual Fund to ETF Converter

ETFdb.com, an information source and database of exchange traded funds, has launched a free conversion tool that allows investors and advisors to map current mutual-fund holdings to their equivalent ETFs,  which typically have cheaper expense ratios and are easier to trade.

The tool, located at http://etfdb.com/tool/mutual-fund-to-etf/, is free.

Michael Johnston, founder of ETFdb.com, a site with an advertizing revenue model, says the tool can match active mutual funds to passive equivalents, and when it can’t find an exact index-based match, it will produce the closest match instead.

“We heard from a lot of advisors and investors wanting to switch to ETFs and wondering what to map to, maintaining the general allocation and risk profile of their mutual fund holdings,” Johnston says. “So we constructed a database that would provide them with a user-friendly, flexible way, to slice and dice ETFs.”
