Ex-Van Kampen Chief Advises Buyout Deals

Financial services-focused private equity shop Lightyear Capital LLC has appointed Jerry W. Miller, former president and chief executive officer of Van Kampen Investments, as a senior advisor on behalf of its affiliated funds.

Miller will draw upon his more than two decades of leadership experience in asset management and wealth management in working with Lightyear to identify deals in the financial services space.

Prior to stint at Van Kampen from 2008 to 2010, Miller was a division director for Morgan Stanley’s Global Wealth Management Group and a member of its executive and operating committees. He has also worked at Merrill Lynch in both its investment and wealth management businesses.

“Jerry’s executive management experience and insights into the asset and wealth management sectors will add to the development of new investment opportunities as well as enhance our operational capabilities,” stated Donald B. Marron, chairman of Lightyear Capital.

Lightyear is no stranger to the financial services space. It is currently invested in Cetera Financial Group, an independent broker-dealer serving over 7,000 independent financial advisors who oversee more than $100 billion of client assets, and Clarion Partners, a commercial real estate investment manager.
