Evergreen Hires Cieszko As Distribution Chief

Evergreen Investments, the investment management unit of Wachovia, has hired Peter Cieszko to be president of global distribution, a newly created post.

Cieszko is to head the fund company's distribution, product and long-term growth strategies domestically and abroad, including Evergreen's retail, high-net-worth and institutional distribution and product management groups. He had been head of U.S. distribution at Legg Mason since its purchase of Citigroup's asset management business in December.

Prior to his most recent role at Legg Mason, Cieszko served as head of U.S. retail and high-net-worth for Citigroup Asset Management, with responsibility for distribution of separately managed accounts, mutual funds, closed-end funds, variable annuities, 401(k) plans and alternative investment products representing approximately $200 billion in assets under management. In addition to oversight of the sales organization, Cieszko managed marketing, client service, product development and business development in the U.S.

Swanson Joins Lincoln To Head Employer Sales

Paul M. Swanson has joined Lincoln Financial Group's employer markets division as head of sales, intermediary channel. Lincoln provides defined contribution and group benefits platforms.

Swanson reports to Don Roberson, head of distribution in the division and is now responsible for heading the company's sales through wirehouses, independent planners and third-party administrators.

He joins the firm from Wealth Management Systems, where he was senior vice president, sales and marketing. He also worked as SVP, national sales at Prudential Retirement and as SVP, national sales director at CitiStreet.

CheckFree Selects Gianoni As EVP, General Manager

CheckFree has hired Michael Gianoni as executive vice president and general manager of its investment services division. He comes to the firm from DST Systems, where he worked for 11 years, most recently as senior vice president of its e-solutions division.

Prior to DST, Gianoni held a variety of executive positions at Application Systems Group, Sequent Computer Systems, Wang Laboratories, U.S. Design Corp. and Canberrs Industries.

"Mike is a highly seasoned executive with deep experience across all areas of product development, business development, sales, marketing and client services," said CheckFree Chairman and CEO Pete Kight, to whom Gianoni now reports.

iMoneyNet Taps Bugbee As Managing Editor

iMoneyNet has promoted Connie Bugbee to managing editor of the firm's flagship Money Fund Report, along with other money market mutual fund newsletters and online services.

Bugbee was editor of Donoghue's Money Fund Report and Donoghue's Mutual Funds Almanac at The Donoghue Organization between 1981 and 1987 and then became senior vice president of operations and trading at W.E. Donoghue until she returned to IBC Financial Data, since renamed iMoneyNet.
