CheckFree Names Keeling Senior Vice President

CheckFree has hired Thom Keeling as senior vice president of the money manager business unit in its investment services division.

With more than 25 years of experience, Keeling is now entrusted with managing and growing CheckFree's relationships with its money manager clients. He was most recently with SunGard as chief operating officer in its institutional asset management group, in charge of managing all aspects of its application service provider and software license business. Before that, he was with FolioFN as vice president of sales and business development and with MacGregor as executive vice president. He also spent 16 years in various positions at ADP, including product management, global sales, relationship management and strategic investments. He began his career as a management consultant with Boston Consulting Group.

"The money manager business is changing rapidly, and Thom's skills will help us focus our efforts on emerging market trends and on executing our commitment to deliver superior value to our clients," said Mike Gianoni, executive vice president and general manager of CheckFree Investment Services.

GE Asset Management Promotes Three Top Execs

GE Asset Management has promoted three senior leaders in its marketing and investment management organizations.

Michael Cosgrove, executive vice president and chief commercial officer is now president and chief executive officer of the firm's mutual fund business. Thirty-seven years with GE, Cosgrove has extensive sales, marketing, relationship management and mutual fund industry experience.

Kathryn Karlic, executive vice president and chief investment officer, fixed income, is now president, sales and marketing, of the institutional asset management business.

Paul Colonna, head of fixed income total return portfolio management, succeeds Karlic with the new title of president and chief investment officer, fixed income. Colonna has 17 years of experience in the investment management industry, the past seven on GE Asset Management's fixed income team.

UBS Appoints Deputy CIO, Senior Investment Officer In Global Alternatives Unit

UBS Global Asset Management has named Rick Nardis as deputy chief investment officer and Euripides "Rip" Matos as senior investment officer in its alternative investment solutions division.

Nardis joined UBS in 2001 as a senior investment officer. Before that, he worked in the manager research department at Tremont Advisers as a specialist in long/short equity. Matos was previously a hedge fund-of-funds researcher at JPMorgan Chase. Before that, he was an associate portfolio manager at Tremont Advisers.
