Fidelity Hires Citigroup Exec to Head Technology Unit

Fidelity Investments has hired Marvin Adams as president of Fidelity Shared Services, which has 12,000 employees and itself runs Fidelity Technology Group, Fidelity Enterprise Operations and Fidelity Real Estate Company. The technology group runs both internal and customer technology, while the operations unit handles pricing, cash management and outsourced services in India. The real estate division provides real estate planning.

Adams previously was chief information officer and a member of the management committee at Citigroup, and before that, he was CIO and senior vice president of corporate strategy at Ford Motor, executive vice president and chief information officer at Banc One, head of worldwide engineering systems for Xerox and a systems engineer at IBM.

Adams will report to Fidelity President Rodger Lawson, who said the firm will increasingly rely “upon robust technology solutions coupled with efficient operations.

“Marvin Adams is a leader who has wide-ranging experience in technology and operations both within and outside of financial services,” Lawson added.
