Fired From Edward Jones, $1M Advisor Lands at Baird

Baird hired a financial advisor who was discharged from Edward Jones last November, according to his FINRA BrokerCheck records.

Advisor Andrew Schlafer managed more than $100 million in client assets and generated about $1 million in production, according to a statement from Baird.

Edward Jones parted ways with Schlafer "because of a claim of discrimination brought by a long-time employee," according to a note in BrokerCheck.

Schlafer, who did not respond to requests for comment, vehemently denied the allegations, according to the note in BrokerCheck.

An Edward Jones spokesman confirmed his dates of employment at the firm, but declined to discuss the matter further. Baird did not respond to additional requests for comment.

Schlafer, who has 15 years of industry experience, joined Baird’s office in Eau Claire, Wis. Schlafer started at Edward Jones in 2000, according to BrokerCheck records.  Previously, he worked as a sales representative for wood products for eight years.

Separately, Baird also named Chris Trumble as the new branch manager of its office in Wichita, Kan.

Trumble worked for Morgan Stanley and Smith Barney for seven years before he joined Baird this month, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records.

Baird opened its Wichita office in June 2015 when six advisors moved to the regional firm from Wells Fargo. At the time, Baird said that they managed more than $1.1 billion in client assets.

Baird’s wealth management unit has approximately 870 financial advisors and client assets of $110 billion, according to the firm.
