First ETF to Track Dow Jones Global Select Dividend Index

First Trust Portfolios is the first company to license the Dow Jones Global Select Dividend Index to launch an exchange-traded fund, the First Trust Dow Jones Select Dividend Index Fund, which began trading on the American Stock Exchange on Tuesday.

The index, launched just last month, tracks the performance of the top 100 dividend-paying companies worldwide.

“Demand for the Dow Jones and Dow Jones STOXX Select Dividend Indexes by the global investment community has grown substantially since we first launched the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index in 2003,” said Michael A. Petronella, president of Dow Jones Indexes. “To satisfy this demand, we have expanded this innovative index family to track high-yielding stocks in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific, the latest being the Dow Jones Global Select Dividend Index.”
