Franklin Templeton Suffers A Sudden Loss

Gary Motyl, former chief investment officer of Templeton Global Equity Group and president of Templeton Investment Counsel, LLC, died suddenly on June 18, reports the Miami Herald. He was 60 years old.

In addition to his wife, Margaret Dwyer Motyl, he is survived by his sister, Cheryl A. Gerber and niece, Emily K. Gerber.

Motyl joined Templeton in 1981 and was based in the firm’s Florida office. Previously, he was a Security Analyst at Standard & Poor's Corporation from 1974 to 1979 and served as a Research Analyst and Portfolio Manager at Landmark First National Bank from 1979 to 1981, where he was responsible for equity research and managed several pension and profit sharing plans.

A spokesperson for the firm was not immediately available to comment on Motyl's passing.
