Fund Companies Win Kudos

Six companies in the mutual fund industry made Fortune magazine's list of 100 Best Companies to Work For, announced in Fortune's Jan. 10, 2000 issue.

Companies were evaluated based on workforce diversity, job growth over two years, voluntary turnover, hours dedicated to employee training and company revenue. Each company was also ranked based on the results of 250 employee surveys.

Overall, Charles Schwab of San Francisco ranked eighth, Goldman Sachs of New York ranked ninth, Janus of Denver, Colo. ranked thirty-fifth, American Century of Kansas City, Mo. ranked fortieth, MFS Investment Management of Boston ranked ninety-fifth and USAA Insurance of San Antonio, Texas ranked ninety-eighth.
