Fund Invests in Asian Water and Waste

CLSA Capital Partners has created a new fund that invests in Asian water and waste management opportunities, Reuters reports.

The Clean Water Asia Long Only Fund has an initial investment of $35 million and joins a number of other firms looking at water as an investment theme, including the Swiss bank Pictet, which launched its Water Fund in 2000.

“The fund complements the existing Clean Resources Asia and Clean Water Asia hedge funds and will leverage Capital Partners’ extensive research and technical knowledge of the water and waste management sectors across the Asia-Pacific region,” according to French lender Credit Agricole.

CLSA Capital Partners said the fund is part of a strategy to build the clean investment platform, including unlisted, long-only and hedge fund vehicles.

The new fund is the ninth from CLSA, which includes its $3 billion alternative asset management arm.
