GE Financial Network last week launched a novel contest that will award financial and other prizes to individuals that find 6,000 wallets GE will purposely "lose" at various public locations in 10 major metropolitan cities. The contest will run until Aug. 6th.
For the campaign, called "Tossed & Found," GE personnel will place in public places wallets containing special scratch-off game pieces that individuals can redeem at the company's financial services website. One out of five wallets will contain winning game pieces, according to the company. Prizes range from t-shirts to two grand prizes of $100,000 that can be invested in GE Funds investment accounts. The website will provide weekly clues on where wallets may be found. GE expects to distribute a total of $354,600 in cash and prizes and will spend an undisclosed amount advertising the contest online, on local radio stations and at bus and rail stations.
