Goldman Preps Alt Mutual Multi-Manager Fund

Goldman Sachs Asset Management is currently prepping an alternative mutual multi-manager fund to launch in 2013.

According to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, the fund will employ alternative strategies including equity long/short, event driven, relative value, tactical trading, and opportunistic fixed income. Its managers will have exposure to master limited partnerships, real estate investment trusts, European investment companies, mortgage-backed and other mortgage related securities, and currencies.

GSAM’s Alternative Investments & Manager Selection group is responsible for hiring and firing the fund’s managers, as well as the fund’s asset allocations. The fund’s portfolio manager is Jason Gottlieb, head of the AIMS Global Manager Strategies group, and Ryan Roderick, managing director in the AIMS group.

As of June 30, GSAM had assets under management of $716.1 billion.
