Pacific Investment Management Co. is opening up its Pimco EqS Long/Short Fund (PMHIX) to include bets on REITs, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

Geoffrey Johnson, who joined Pimco in April from hedge fund Catamount Capital Management, is the portfolio manager of the fund. A spokesman for the firm was not immediately available to comment on the filing.

The $231 million Pimco EqS Long/Short Fund has a management fee of 14o basis points for institutional shares. It is up 2.32% year to date through Sept. 25.
