Institutional Money Funds Lose $11 Billion

Total money market mutual fund assets increased by $1.02 billion to $2.612 trillion for the week ended Wednesday, June 12, according to the Investment Company Institute.

Assets of retail money market funds increased by $11.04 billion to $914.74 billion. Specifically, retail taxable government money market fund assets increased by $2.49 billion to $196.97 billion, taxable non-government money market fund assets increased by $7.30 billion to $526.30 billion, and tax-exempt fund assets increased by $1.25 billion to $191.47 billion.

However, institutional money market funds dropped $10.02 billion to $1.697 trillion. Among institutional funds, taxable government money market fund assets decreased by $550 million to $712.20 billion, taxable non-government money market fund assets decreased by $8.79 billion to $913.93 billion, and tax-exempt fund assets decreased by $680 million to $71.02 billion.
