Loomis Sayles Will Sponsor Race

Loomis Sayles & Co. of Boston will be awarding $30,000 worth of mutual fund shares to the winners of this year's James Joyce Ramble, a 10-kilometer road race to be held in Boston April 30, said Chris Lazzaro, a company spokesperson.

"The tie-in for us is that we're saying investing in a mutual fund is like a marathon, not a sprint," he said.

This is the first year Loomis Sayles has sponsored the race, which is expected to attract an estimated 4,000 runners and will be rebroadcast on ESPN, the cable-television network.

The award will be divided among the top three male and female racers from three different divisions - open entry, 40-plus and a wheelchair division. The winners will be able to invest in any fund offered in the Loomis Sayles fund family.

An additional prize will be awarded by raffle to runners in the 14- to 18-year-old division. The winner will receive $2,700 to be invested in a trust fund held for a minor.

Loomis Sayles is the principal sponsor of the race and the only financial services company sponsor.
