Manulife Taps Federated Debt Managers

Roberto Sanchez-Dahl, and Paolo Valle, formerly managers of the Federated Emerging Market Debt Fund, have joined Manulife Financial.

Sanchez-Dahl and Valle join Manulife as managing directors and senior portfolio managers. The two will manage an emerging markets debt strategy for institutional clients and certain wealth management businesses of Manulife Financial and John Hancock. They will report to Christopher Conkey, global chief investment officer of Manulife Asset Management. The team will also support other global debt strategies investing in emerging market debt.

On Monday, MME reported that Federated named Ihab L. Salib as senior portfolio manager of Federated Emerging Market Debt Fund, succeeding Sanchez-Dahl and Valle.

Manulife Asset Management's new emerging markets debt team is the firm's third addition of portfolio management teams this year.
