Mariner Wealth Advisors, a Leawood, Kan., based independent, national wealth advisory firm, bought Orizon Investment Counsel.

“The relationship with Orizon will allow us to provide focused, innovative wealth solutions to clients in an increasingly diverse geographic area, which is something our clients have been requesting," said Martin C. Bicknell, Mariner's CEO.

Orizon, which is based in Omaha, Neb., has 14 wealth professionals and four senior wealth advisors and has experience in creating custom, holistic wealth plans for clients. Orizon’s systems will integrate with Mariner's when practical and the Orizon name will change as well when the deal is completed.

“As part of the Mariner team, our professionals will be able to deliver resources and innovation beyond what we currently have access to. Combined with our team’s vast knowledge and experience, we will be positioned to provide industry-leading services to meet our clients’ diverse needs,” said Daniel A. Tucker, Orizon's president.
