Matthews Asia is closing its Gold-rated Matthews Asia Dividend Fund (MAPIX), which bets on income-paying stocks in the Asia Pacific region, to new investors on June 14.
“The fund is being closed in an effort to slow the pace of inflows into the fund. We believe that restricting access to the Fund at this time is a prudent step toward maintaining the integrity of our investment process and is also consistent with our approach to deal with these issues in a timely fashion that benefits shareholders over the long term,” according to a firm statement.
The fund was launched on October 2006 and is managed by Jesper Madsen and Yu Zhang. It managed some $5.3 billion as of April 30, according to Bloomberg.
