Morgan Stanley has lost an elite advisor to Stifel.
Chuck Roberts left the wirehouse Tuesday to join Stifel in New York. A secretary answering the phone at Roberts' office at Morgan said he had quit the firm that morning to join Stifel.
It was not clear if his entire team had moved with him.
A Morgan Stanley spokeswoman confirmed his departure and declined to comment further. A spokesman for Stifel declined to comment.
Recruiters, who were not involved with the move and who asked not to be named, said Roberts was well known as a multi-million dollar producer.
Roberts, who did not return calls seeking comment, had been with Smith Barney and then Morgan Stanley since 2005, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records. On his LinkedIn page, Roberts said he had been a member of the wirehouse's Chairman's Club for eight years.
"This annual appointment recognizes my creativity and excellence in providing a wide range of investment products and wealth management services to my clients," Roberts wrote.
He joined Stifel's office in New York, which was previously a Barclays branch office.

The St. Louis-based Stifel also retained many ex-Barclays branch managers, such as Mark Stevenson. He oversees the firm's New York office, where Roberts has joined. Stevenson did not return a call seeking comment.
