A former Morgan Stanley adviser has left the wirehouse to go independent with Snowden Lane Partners, the firm says.
Adviser Michael Mahoney joined Veritas Private Wealth Group, an existing Snowden team in New York, as a partner and managing director. He declined to provide his AUM and production figures.
Veritas is led by current partners and managing directors Jesse Clinton, Phillip Pedrena and Joseph Hubbell. Collectively, they manage over $350 million in client assets, according to the firm, and specialize in providing financial planning strategies for executives and their families.
Clinton said in a statement that Mahoney is a “key addition” to the fast-growing team and is valued for his success in ensuring the best outcomes for clients.

Mahoney worked eight years at Morgan Stanley as a vice president and adviser in Fairfield, Conn., according to Snowden Lane. He served high-net-worth individuals and their families, with a particular focus on estate planning and wealth transfers.
Mahoney also has additional wirehouse experience, having worked at Merrill Lynch from 2005 to 2008, FINRA BrokerCheck records show. He started his career at regional firm Edward Jones, and later moved to Quick & Reilly and Banc of America before landing at Merrill. Mahoney has 17 years of total industry experience, according to BrokerCheck.

The New York-based Snowden Lane has seven offices in five states, and oversees more than $2.7 billion in client assets, according to the firm.
A spokeswoman for Morgan Stanley confirmed Mahoney’s departure but declined to comment further.
