New York Life to Donate Up To $400,000 for Haiti Earthquake Relief

New York Life Insurance has committed $100,000 in donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for Haiti and has pledged $150,000 in matching contributions to this and other charities serving Haiti made by both employees and agents, for a potential total donation of $400,000.

The other charities being included are: AmeriCares, CARE, Heart to Heart International, Save the Children, United Nations World Food Program, UNICEF and United Way Worldwide Disaster Fund.

“On behalf of the entire New York Life family,” said Chairman, President and CEO Ted Mathas, “we extend our heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince, and surrounding areas. The destruction is widespread and devastating. The loss of life and the number of injured are overwhelming.

“The families caught in the disaster area and the rescue working making valiant efforts to save lives have been in our thoughts and prayers since we learned of this tragic event,” Mathas continued.
