RS Investments Acquires Oak Value Mgmt. Team

RS Investments, San Francisco, announced Thursday it has entered into an agreement to acquire the portfolio management team of Oak Value Capital Management, Inc.  of Chapel Hill, N.C. RS will also acquire "certain assets of that firm, including its investment management relationships," the company said.

Oak Value co-founders David R. Carr, Jr., and Larry D. Coats, Jr., will be making the move over to RS Investments, along with Christy L. Philips, who has been with the firm for the past 17 years. Each member of the portfolio management team has nearly a quarter century of investment management experience.

"The capabilties of this team are reflected in the strong track recod of the Oak Value Fund, and we look forward to welcoming the firm's key investment professionals to RS," said Terry Otton, RS Investments CEO.

RS specializes in large-cap growth, value and "high conviction" GARP (growth at a reasonable price), otherwise known as deep value.
