SEC Seminar Helps Funds Comply With XBRL

The staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission will hold a public seminar next month to help mutual funds comply with new electronic filing requirement that take effect next year.

The June 4 seminar will cover filing risk/return prospectus summaries using eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), rule requirements and the XBRL taxonomy. The seminar is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the SEC’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The compliance date for open-end funds is Jan. 1, 2011.
