SEC to Vote on Hedge Fund Registration on Friday

The Securities and Exchange Commission will vote Friday on new registration rules for hedge funds and private equity funds.

The SEC is also going to vote to raise the threshold for registration from $25 million to $100 million, leaving the oversight of smaller hedge funds to state regulators.

For private equity and venture capital funds, the SEC is considering raising the threshold for registration to $150 million.

The SEC is also going to consider whether it needs to enact new rules to create a repository of security-based swap data, and the public dissemination of security-based swap transaction, volume and pricing information.
