Simple Alternatives Adds More L/S Managers

Ridgefield, Conn.-based Simple Alternatives, an alternative mutual fund shop, has added two more long/short managers to its flagship S1 Fund (SONEX), a multi-manager, long/short equity mutual fund.

Bruce Garelick, founder of Boston-based Garelick Capital Partners, and Alexander Fodor, chief executive officer of New York-based of Sonica Capital, joins the fund’s growing list of long/short sub-advisors including Starwood Real Estate Securities, Lauren Templeton Capital Management, a global opportunistic equity manager, Blue Lion Capital Management, a credit long/short manager, Courage Capital Management, a special situations manager and Maerisland Capital, a fundamentally based long/short equity manager.

“Bruce Garelick and Alexander Fodor are both very impressive long/short equity managers,” stated Simple Alternatives Founder and CEO James Dilworth. “We believe their unique styles will greatly complement our existing team of managers for the S1 Fund.”

The S1 Fund was launched on September 30, 2010 and managed some $81 million as of June 14. It sports an expense ratio of 285 basis points, according to Morningstar.
