Technology Sector Remains Strong Despite Setbacks

Mutual fund investors have confidence in their technology fund investments despite a short-term drop in the Nasdaq Composite Index earlier this year, according to a survey from Charles Schwab & Co. of San Francisco.

A survey of 848 Schwab mutual fund customers found that 52 percent invested in a technology mutual fund in the last six months and 46 percent said they planned to make additional technology fund investments in the coming months. The survey was sent via electronic mail in mid-June.

The survey also showed that despite concern over recent performance, many investors appear optimistic about the long-term performance of the technology fund sector. Fifty-four percent said the recent volatility does not concern them, and 32 percent even view it as a buying opportunity.
