UBS Grabs Advisors With Over $400M AUM

Four advisors who collectively oversaw more than $400 million in client assets have joined UBS, a spokesman said.

Among the new hires was Emilio Valdes, who left Merrill Lynch where he managed approximately $155 million in client assets, UBS said. He joined UBS in Conshohocken, Pa. Valdes reports to Keith Brown, branch manager, and Ted Durkin, complex director.

Valdes generated $1.3 million in annual revenues while at Merrill, where he had been since 1992, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records.

UBS also said it hired three advisors from Morgan Stanley where they managed $270 million in client assets. Drew Barlow, Brian McKeon and Kirk Hasen, who operate as the Penn Management Group, joined UBS in Newtown, Pa.

The team collectively generated $3.2 million in annual revenues while at Morgan, UBS said. The team's focus is on wealth families, UBS said.

Barlow has two decades of industry experience, according to BrokerCheck. He started his career at Prudential Securities in 1985, and later joined Morgan in 2009.

McKeon started his career at Morgan in 2001, moving to Wachovia in 2003, and then back to Morgan in 2009. Hasen joined Barlow and McKeon at Morgan in 2011, moving from Wells Fargo Advisors.

The team reports to Clayton Bedford, branch manager, and Ted Durkin, complex director.
