U.S. Stocks Resume Their Ascent

A day after snapping a five-session losing streak, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied up another 181.19 points Thursday to close at 12,986.58.

The Nasdaq added another 39.09 points to finish at 3,055.55 and the S&P 500 gained 18.86 points to end at 1,387.57.

Among other economic news, producer prices was unchanged in March as a drop in gasoline costs offset rising food prices, according to the Labor Department. Economists surveyed by Reuters had expected a gain of 0.3 percent.

Meanwhile, trade deficit narrowed unexpectedly by 12.4% to $46.0 billion in February.
