Execs Moving Up in Bank Wealth Management

What do Associated Bank, Bank of the West, Regions Bank and Wells Fargo have in common? They all recently named people to newly created wealth management posts or appointed new leaders to related investment services businesses.

Michael Jerrett, Associated Bank

Michael Jerrett joined Associate Bank as retirement plan services market manager for the South region. The position was created as part of the bank's commitment to growing its presence in Southeast and South Central Wisconsin.

In his new role, Jerrett manages the Retirement Plan Services relationship teams in Chicago and Milwaukee, serving both the sponsors of corporate retirement plans and their participants.

Jerrett was previously a senior retirement consultant and relationship manager with MassMutual Financial Group, where he managed consultants and education specialists and serviced clients across multiple states. Prior to joining MassMutual, Jerrett held retirement plan relationship management positions with Northwestern Mutual, Ceridian and Associated.

Julie Shafer, Bank of the West

Julie Shafer joined Bank of the West's Wealth Management Group as head of the planned Strategic Philanthropy and Purpose Investing offering. She is the third high-level hire for the ultrahigh-net-worth business the bank expects to launch officially this fall.

Shafer will focus on helping super-wealthy clients achieve their philanthropic goals and reports to Steve Prostano, who was hired in June to spearhead the new business.

Prior to joining Bank of the West, Shafer ran a development and philanthropy consulting business, which she founded in 2011. Prior to that, she was the director of development at the Institute of Neurodegenerative Diseases, a post she held for more than three years.

Julz Burgess, Regions Bank

Julz Burgess joined Regions Bank to lead the Institutional Services Division's Corporate Trust Group. She will provide strategic direction for the group and focus on business development, client service and retention.

Burgess replaces Kevin Kirby, who recently retired from Regions.

Burgess was previously with BNY Mellon Trust Co., where she was managing director of the U.S. Corporate Finance Client Service Management team. She has more than 24 years of experience in the corporate trust area.

Regions Bank's Institutional Services Division is one of four divisions that make up Regions Wealth Management.

Kate Randall Danella, Regions Bank

Kate Randall Danella joined Regions Bank to help the bank's wealth management business groups work together to generate more business. In her role as "wealth strategy and effectiveness executive," Danella will oversee the development and implementation of business strategies across Regions Private Wealth Management, Regions Institutional Services, Regions Investment Services and Regions Insurance, the four divisions that make up Regions Wealth Management. It is the first time anyone has held this position.

Danella was previously with Capital Group Cos., where she most recently served as integrated marketing senior business manager, leading six strategic initiatives. She joined Capital Group in 2002 and served in sales, service, marketing and management roles in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York.

Jasmine Jirele, Wells Fargo

Jasmine Jirele joined Wells Fargo to lead the 300-member trust operations team. She oversees all the back-office processing units that directly support fiduciary needs across Wells Fargo, including the Abbot Downing, Corporate Trust Services, Institutional Retirement and Trust, Wells Capital Management and Wealth Management businesses.

Jirele reports to the head of Wells Fargo Retirement and replaces Rob Prigge, who retired this summer.

Jirele joined Wells Fargo from Allianz Life Insurance, where she was senior vice president of enterprise operations, a post she held since January 2012. She joined Allianz in November 2006 as chief of staff, rising to become vice president of market management and product innovation in February 2009.
