RBC Wealth Management Replaces Wealth Consulting Division Head

RBC Wealth Management has promoted its former head of correspondent and advisor services to lead the firm's wealth consulting division.

In her new capacity, Catie Tobin will oversee the firm's operations providing advice in retirement, insurance, wealth strategies, wealth management, trusts and lending to its base of 1,900 advisors, RBC says. She most recently led RBC's CAS business, which provides full-service clearing, custody and execution services to independent broker dealers and RIA firms across the country.

Tobin replaces former wealth consulting division head Ward Ring, who is retiring after 35 years in the industry, according to the firm.

Ring first started his securities career in 1980 with Integrated Resources Equity and has since worked for firms such as FDI Securities, Equico Securities and Marquette Financial, according to FINRA records. Ring spent his last 13 years with RBC, the firm says.

RBC's Brett Thorne will fill Tobin's previous position as CAS head, the firm says. Thorne has been with RBC for nearly 20 years and previously served as chief operating officer of the unit, according to RBC.

The firm currently oversees roughly $273 billion in client assets with advisors in 200 locations across 41 states, an RBC spokeswoman says.

RBC recently lured a UBS advisor managing $300 million in client assets.
